The matchup of undefeated teams in the Sunset Surfing League went the way of the 18 time national champs from Huntington Beach on Wednesday. But, that was just the first of two matchups the teams will have this league season.

The Oilers traveled to Newport Harbor's home water and defeated the Sailors 79-68 in a match where both teams were missing key people due to the World Surf League Qualifying Series event in Santa Cruz.
The teams should both be at full strength when they meet up again at HB pier on Dec 8th.
As for this one, Newport led 32-31 after three heats thank to a win by Josh Kierstad and second-place finishes by Ashley Hunt and Ronan Collins. Huntington got early wins from Niyah Rosen and Dylan Sloan.

Huntington then started to inch away as Rosen got a second heat win and Dylan Zazueta, and Tanner Bellarose secured heat wins of their own. Jonah Haack got the only remaining heat win for Newport as Huntington outscored their opponent 48-36 in the last 4 heats of the contest.
Rosen also won the Future Fins high wave score with a 7.93.
EDISON 65, MARINA 48
Edison High led from start to finish and won all 7 heats in the comfortable victory.
Edison got heat wins from Micah Baltzer, Mara Morales (2 wins) , Hans Odriozola, Mahteo Gonzales, Saxon Baltzer and Reese Powers. Also surfing well were Gage Barnard, Gracie Bennett, Dawson Kollar and Kellen Scott with second place finishes.

Odrizola got the high wave score award with a perfect 10 point ride in his win.
Marina was led by Tiffany Pinkman and Griffin Soto with second place finishes and Lexi Shepherd secured a third place.
EDISON 88, FOUNTAIN VALLEY 59
In a match postponed the week before, the Chargers took all seven heats en route to the win.
Mara Morales led the way for Edison with 2 heat wins while Reese Powers, Micah Baltzer, Saxon Baltzer and Mahteo Gonzales all got heat wins.

Fountain Valley got the high wave award of the day when Mateo Arellano scored an 8.53 in his heat win.
Other top performers for the Barons were Megan Mastin with a 2nd and 3rd place heat, Noah Arellano and Noah Baldree with second place finishes and Eddie Watson, Sebastien Beal and Meleana Walker with solid third place results.
