After an off week to start the Sunset Surfing League, Edison High School opened its league schedule Tuesday with a 93-54 win over a shorthanded Fountain Valley squad.

The Chargers (1-0) had the winner in all seven heats en route to the win. Fountain Valley fell to 0-2 with the setback.
"We did pretty good, said Edison coach Zoran Forgiarini. "We have some new kids, we have some girls that we are breaking in that are new to us and the boys gave a great effort today, it was fun."
Micah Baltzer, Esai Gonzales, Mahteo Gonzales, Saxon Baltzer and Reese Powers all took heat wins for the Charger boys and Mara Morales took down two heats for the girls.

For Fountain Valley, the top boy surfer was Eddie Watkins who placed 2nd and 3rd in his heats. For the girls, Megan Mastin led the way with 2nd place in both long and short board and Meleana Walker, 3rd in the longboard heat.
"We just take it one comp at a time and see how it goes," said Forgiarini. "We have a goal at every comp to do the best you can and get it going. The girls are going to be key. We are lucky to have the ones we do."
Newport Harbor 101.5, Marina 45.5
Newport Harbor improved to 2-0 with the home water victory over the Vikings (0-2).
The Sailors got off to a quick start taking the top 3 spots in each of the first three heats.
