The World Surf League Challenger Series hits Huntington Beach this weekend when the Vans US Open of Surfing kicks off Saturday morning and goes through August 7th.
Both the men's and women's Challenger series leaders, Rio Waida and Caitlin Simmers will be in action.
Waida, from Indonesia, will be seeking his third straight tour win after wins in the Sydney Pro Surf and Ballito Pro. He sees action in heat #16 as the round of 96 begins.
Simmers, comfortably ahead in the women's standings, goes for back-to-back US Opens when she kicks off her event, in heat #16 of the women's draw.

Huntington Beach's Kanoa Igarashi (above) , currently ranked 6th in the Championship Tour standings, will compete in heat #12.
